The inaugural Laguna Lang Co - Vietnam Airlines Triathlon took
place on Sunday, 14 April 2013.
Italian Massimo Cigana and Radka Vodickova of
the Czech Republic, both three-time Champions of sister
event Laguna Phuket Triathlon, made their experience count
against an elite pro field that included two-time Ironman World
Champion Chris McCormack of Australia, and fellow Australian
Ironman veteran Belinda Granger (read
more about the results).
The event attracted more than 200 athletes from
28 countries, and Laguna Lang Co is expecting to double that
number next year.
ASIATravelTips.com spoke with Mr. Ravi Chandran,
Managing Director of Laguna Lang Co, the day after the event - on
Monday, to
get his thoughts on how it all went, and what areas he is looking to
improve for 2014.
Note: It was only
after this interview took place that we learned of some of the
difficulties that quite a few athletes experienced trying to get
home with their bikes. Questions with regards to transportation, visas, Vietnam
Airlines' support - or total lack thereof - for the athletes and their
equipment, are questions that will
be asked in a subsequent interview. We will also be conducting
some HD video interviews with a few of the athletes that flew into
Vietnam for the Triathlon, so do check back!
