Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok, the brands flagship
hotel in Southeast Asia and a member of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel
Group, has put together a formidable team to manage the hotel's
opening scheduled for mid-February 2014.
Austrian native Peter
Schuler has been appointed General Manager.
A respected veteran of
the luxury Radisson family, Peter first joined the company in 1996
as Executive Chef at Radisson SAS Palais Hotel Vienna (Radisson
SAS was rebranded as Radisson Blu in 2009). Following Vienna,
Peter moved with Radisson to first Beijing then Dubai, taking the
reins of the Food & Beverage department as Director in Moscow in
2002.
In 2005, Peter was appointed GM of Radisson SAS
Martinez Hotel Beirut, winning Radissons global employee of the
year award for his outstanding leadership in 2006. This was followed by his appointment as GM at Radisson SAS Hotel Astana
during which time the hotel was nominated multiple times and
received the award for Kazakhstans Leading Hotel at the
prestigious World Travel Awards 2008.
Prior to taking up his
current role in Bangkok, Peter was responsible for the pre-opening
of Park Plaza Beijing West, also a Carlson Rezidor hotel, winning
the companys Asia Pacific Presidents Award for his decisive
leadership in the propertys successful debut.
Steven Ang has been appointed as Executive
Assistant Manager Sales & Marketing.
Steven started his career at inbound tour
operator Holiday Tours & Travel in his native Malaysia, with
responsibilities spanning operations, product development, sales
and marketing. Building on his diverse skillset, Steven went on to
prestigious appointments as Director of Sales at Renaissance
Sandakan Hotel Sabah, Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort Kota Kinabalu
and Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
Fluent in
Mandarin, Steven was appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at
Holiday Inn Tianjin in 1999, from there going on to a number of
department head roles with Shangri-La in Harbin, Wuhan, Beijing
and again Kuala Lumpur.
In 2005, Steven moved to Bangkok to
take on the role of Director of Sales & Marketing at Holiday Inn
Silom, also taking a key role in brand-level sales initiatives.
This was followed by his time as National Director of Sales for
Hilton Worldwide in Malaysia.
Stevens most recent appointment
was a successful stint as Director of Business Development at the
Hilton Beijing.
Adam Beasley has been appointed as
Director of Food & Beverage.
Starting his career with appointments at various five-star hotels
in his native Australia, Adam moved to London in 1995, serving as
Chef de Rang at the Michelin-starred haunt The Ivy.
Moving
back to Australia, Adam then spent six years at the Sheraton
Mirage Resort Gold Coast in the roles of both Restaurant Manager
and Banquet Operations Manager before joining the pre-opening team
of Four Points by Sheraton Port Macquarie as Food & Beverage
Manager.
In 2004, Adam moved to The Langham Melbourne as part
of the rebranding team, following up with a four-year appointment
at Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket as Director of Food & Beverage.
His most recent appointment was heading the Food & Beverage
department during the pre-opening of The Westin Abu Dhabi, winning
a host of awards for the seven-outlet property.
Asker Bay has been appointed as the Executive
Chef.
Joining Radisson Blu from exclusive The Village
Coconut Island Phuket, Danish national Asker Bay boasts an
extensive range of culinary styles, his specialties being Modern European as well as baked goods.
Following his time as Chef de
Partie at the award-winning Quo Vadis in London, Asker moved to
The Westin Sydney, subsequently becoming Chef de Cuisine at The
Jumeirah Beach Hotel Dubai in 2001.
Asker first worked in
Thailand in 2004 at the Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok, moving to
Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi as Executive Chef.
Followed by a brief stint as head chef at The Leela Goa, Asker
moved back to Thailand in 2008, taking on the role of Executive
Chef at the Majestic Grande Bangkok, followed by two years at the
luxurious Pimilai Resort & Spa on
Kan Tiang Beach in
Koh
Lanta.
Wipakorn Komonkitisakul has been appointed as Director of Marketing
Communications.
Having studied in both
the U.S. and at Thailands prestigious Chulalongkorn University,
Wipakorn began her hospitality career at the Four Seasons Hotel
Bangkok during its rebranding process (previously it was called The Regent
Bangkok), going on to become PR Manager at The Peninsula Bangkok.
In 2006, Wipakorn joined a Bangkok-based public
relations agency heading the Hong Kong Tourism Board account. She
then spent four years at Grand Millennium Sukhumvit,
taking on both PR and Marketing responsibilities prior to joining
the Radisson Blu Plaza.
