Singex Group, manager of the Singapore EXPO
Convention and Exhibition Centre, will today sign a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic
Relations Commission (COFTEC) of Western China during its
roundtable seminar at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore.
The MOU brings Singex and COFTEC into a
strategic alliance to promote China Chongqing International
Investment and Global Sourcing Fair (CCISF), and its related
investment activities.
To be held at Chongqing International Expo
Centre (CQIEC) from 16 to 19 May 2013, CCISF serves as a
gateway for domestic and foreign enterprises seeking trade and
investment opportunities with China’s inland provinces.
Both Singex and COFTEC will leverage on each other’s
networks, exchange MICE industry-related and regional market information, cross promote each other’s trade events, organise
enterprise exchange visits to promote bilateral cooperation between Chongqing, Western China and Singapore in the finance,
manufacturing, trade and tourism sectors.
This MOU
rides on the recent collaborative agreements between Singex and
Yuelai Investment & Development Co. Ltd (Yuelai), the company
behind CQIEC and also the China Council for the promotion of
International Trade (CCPIT).
The MOUs with Yuelai and CCPIT allow
the parties to explore collaborative opportunities in key areas
like the management of CQIEC; development of business events;
exchange of resources and information; and attracting exhibitors
and delegates to business events.
“The signing
of our third MOU with Chongqing in less than two months marks just
how quickly we would like to help develop and grow the MICE
industry in Western China and establish suitable event platforms
to bolster trade and investment flows between ASEAN and Western
China,” said Mr Aloysius Arlando, Singex’s Chief Executive Officer. “Through our continuous engagements with various government
agencies, we are constantly on the lookout for ways to value-add,
and deepen our ties with our Chongqing partners, including the
co-creation of events like the Singapore-Chongqing Showcase.”
The Showcase, the first joint event for Singex and
Yuelai will be a platform for corporations and trade
bodies in Southeast Asia to learn about business opportunities in
Chongqing and Western China. Companies will be able to exchange information, gather insights and establish opportunities for
business forays into Chongqing and the Western China region. The
Showcase is scheduled for August later this year.
