To give travellers even more reasons to visit
Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has partnered with
Visa to launch the “Hong Kong Summer Spectacular” from 21 June to
31 August.
The campaign will highlight major events and
promotions throughout the period.
Mr Anthony Lau, HKTB Executive Director, said,
“With young people and families in our short-haul markets being
the target visitor segments, the ‘Summer Spectacular’ campaign
promotes a wide variety of seasonal events and special offers,
with a view to encouraging visitors to explore and spend in
different districts of Hong Kong. In particular, we are organising
the ‘Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper’ contest for the fourth
consecutive year, but in a brand new format – having the
participants travel around different areas of Hong Kong, with
media crews from the region invited to film the entire race,
helping us maximise exposure for Hong Kong.”
This is the fourth consecutive year for the HKTB
and Visa to partner on “Visa go Hong Kong Super Shopper”.
The
contest will cover nine short-haul markets: Indonesia, Japan,
Mainland China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea,
Taiwan and Thailand.
One participant will be invited from each
market and will be teamed up with a celebrity from the different
markets to take part in the final contest in Hong Kong between 29
and 31 July.
The winning team will take away the Super Shopper
title and a HK$200,000 Visa spending credit.
To heighten the excitement, the contest will be
transformed into a treasure hunt, in which participants follow
instructions to visit a number of spots in Hong Kong, complete a
series of tasks and provide news updates on their visits on social
media platforms.
The tasks, which include tasting local
delicacies, visiting green attractions, enjoying local arts and
culture, and using their Visa cards to shop, are meant to showcase
Hong Kong’s diverse tourism offerings and to entice visitors to go
for an in-depth experience of Hong Kong, as well as shopping.
In addition to organising “Visa go Hong Kong
Super Shopper”, the HKTB will promote a number of events and
special programmes rolled out by major attractions and
organisations during the “Hong Kong Summer Spectacular” period.
These include the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival, the Hong Kong
International Tea Fair, the Hong Kong Book Fair, the Chinese Opera
Festival and Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong.
Over 30 hotels and visitor accommodations
accredited by the Quality Tourism Services (QTS) Scheme in Hong
Kong are showing their support for the summer promotion by giving
visitors special offers, including “one free night” packages.
More
than 80 QTS shopping and dining merchants will also roll out “Visa
Summer Quality Privileges” to encourage visitor spending.
