The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU) has
confirmed that Mr Ian McMahon has resigned from his position as
Chief Executive Officer.
HKRFU Chairman Trevor Gregory said,
“Since his appointment two years ago, Ian has made a significant
contribution to HKRFU operations and has overseen the successful
management of the
Hong Kong Sevens and the recent
British & Irish Lions v Barbarians match.
“Ian, however, has been unable to relocate his
family to Hong Kong from the USA and has therefore decided to
resign in order to address this matter.
“While Ian has offered to complete his
contractual notice period, considering the personal reasons for
his resignation the Board has decided to waive this requirement to
effect his resignation.
“We respect his decision and wish Ian well in
the future.”
The HKRFU is expected to announce details of its
executive search process to fill this position, in due course.
