Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai will take part
in the fourth annual ‘Walk Now for Autism’ event at Zabeel Park on
Saturday, 21 April 2012, to help raise awareness about the
condition.
Autism covers a spectrum of developmental
disorders which affect a person’s communication and social skills.
Far more children today have autism than previously thought.
According to a study, one child out of every 110 suffers from
Autism in the UAE. Worldwide, autism affects approximately two of
out of every 1,000 children.
Scott Butcher, General Manager of Park Regis
Kris Kin Hotel Dubai, said, “The high rate of autism is very
concerning. Most people have no idea about how unrelentingly hard
it is looking after autistic children. However, with the right
guidance and support it is possible to cope better with such
cases. Most importantly autistic people should not be stigmatised
for their condition. Rather people with autism have been seen to
make significant contributions to society in the right
environment.”
Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai places
corporate social responsibility at the heart of its business
practice. It is for the second time that the hotel will be
supporting this campaign having already been a part of it in 2011.
Scott said, “We are pleased to announce our participation this year
in ‘Walk Now for Autism’ and look forward to interacting with
the local community on this important subject. At Park Regis Kris
Kin Hotel Dubai, we are committed to support those who suffer from
Autism.”
‘Walk Now for Autism’, organised in collaboration
with the UAE Red Crescent Society, is a fun-filled family event
that will begin at 5pm on 21 April 2012 at Zabeel Park. Over 5,000
children and adults of various nationalities are expected to
participate. In addition to the walkathon, activities will include
live music, educational events, market stalls, and a raffle.
