Anantara has opened its first property in China, its twentieth overall.

The Anantara Sanya Resort & Spa is located on the southernmost tip of Hainan Island in China.

Sanya lies in the southern valley of the Wuzhi Mountain range and boasts over 200 kilometres of coastline.

Sanya’s Phoenix International Airport is the second largest on Hainan Island, with daily domestic and international flights, while Sanya harbour has become an important port for deluxe passenger ships and foreign trade.

The new resort which is inspired by both oriental and Thai design, offers 122 guest rooms, suites and private pool villas, with an emphasis on spa accommodation. For instance, Spa Pool Villas face the ocean and offer 500 square metres of living space, including a secluded pool oasis surrounded by lush gardens, with private trails to the shoreline.

The Anantara Spa brand pampers with indigenous rituals. A sanctuary of timeless oriental romance, with treatments that draw on China’s exquisite tea rituals and age-old pearl beauty wisdom.

Guests can refresh in the tropical outdoor swimming pool or energise in the fitness centre. Sign up for yoga and Tai Chi classes in paradise settings, while younger guests can be entertained at the kids’ club.

Golf enthusiasts can practice their swing at the nearby Luhuitou Golf Club, an 18-hole par-72 course spanning 7,310 yards under shady palm trees on a sprawling stretch of southern coastline.

Dining journeys at Anantara Sanya Resort & Spa draw on Anantara’s Thai roots, Sanya’s flavourful local specialties, fresh local produce and seafood bounty, as well as the region’s trade routes to deliver gourmet international cuisine. Four distinctive restaurants and bars offer dining options for all to enjoy.

The all day dining restaurant Shi Yuan, serves international breakfast buffets, followed by lunch and dinner menus of Chinese, South East Asian and western culinary trends. Book a private dining room or a table on the terrace of Baan Rim Nam, which translates as ‘Thai House by the Water’, and taste Thailand’s exotic diversity. Discover the tribesman legend that inspired the Ahei Lounge, where guests can enjoy fine wine and tea guru journeys. Order tropical refreshments at Flow, the swim-up pool bar, or picnic on the lawn.

Savour Flame’s seaside BBQ occasions, held twice a week, around a roaring beach fire could also be enjoyed in a picturesque garden sala. Or why not spoil someone special with the tailor made romance of Dining by Design in a range of  secluded settings, complete with a private chef and butler.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotel Group, said, “We are very excited to have opened Anantara Sanya, which represents both our debut in China and overall our 20th property. This is a great milestone for the brand as we expand into our sixth country, with more properties in China to come soon.”
