More than 220 companies from the U.S. will be in
Halls 2, 3 and 4 at the Farnborough International Airshow in
Farnborough, England, beginning 9 July 2012.
Many small companies are displaying as part of
more than 20 state groups at the show this year, often as a result
of the SBA’s STEP program, which assists small to medium-sized
businesses in their exporting efforts.
The U.S. International Pavilion will be made more manageable with a
new (free) app, myairshowguide.com (which allows users to search,
locate and set up meetings with exhibitors in advance) and onsite
touchscreen “QuickFind Stations”. The app can be downloaded at MyAirShowGuide.com.
Some of the exhibiting companies on the U.S.
International Pavilion include:
Airfloat: 2/B17 (Decatur,
IL) As a pioneer of air bearing (or “air caster”) technology, Airfloat has been creating unique heavy-load movement solutions
for almost 50 years. Based in Central Illinois, Airfloat works
with multiple industries to create material-handling solutions for
loads requiring frictionless, omnidirectional movement. From
standard air skids and platforms to custom-designed and built
“floating” assembly lines, Airfloat helps companies like
Boeing, Caterpillar and G.E. enhance their manufacturing
processes. At the air show, Airfloat is unveiling a new assembly
transporter for the manufacture of aircraft that uses air-bearing
and AGV technology to automatically transport aircraft from
workstation to workstation.
Albany Engineered
Composites (AEC): 3/A10
(Rochester, NH) designs and manufactures advanced composite
components for aerospace, defense, and other high-performance
applications. At Farnborough, AEC will display the 3D-reinforced
composite fan blade and fan case, both fabricated by AEC, for
CFM’s LEAP engine. AEC has an exclusive relationship with Snecma
to develop and manufacture these and other LEAP engine components.
To support production of composite LEAP components, AEC is
expanding its production facilities, including a 353,000
square-foot facility that is currently under construction in
Rochester, New Hampshire (USA), where AEC and Snecma will be
co-located.
