All seven monthly finalists of the ‘Be a Changi
Millionaire’ Draw in 2011 have been drawn, with the last finalist
being a 38-year-old Singaporean.
On 12 February, they will gather together at
Changi Airport for a final showdown, which will see the luckiest
among them walking away with a million-dollar in cash fortune.
The lucky Singaporean picked as the finalist for
November 2011, the last month of the promotion, is Mr Lim Sua
Chwee. “It feels like I am just a step away
from striking the lottery. It’s superb and dream-like!” said Mr
Lim, who works as a driver.
Being a liquor collector, Mr Lim
enjoys purchasing quality liquor items to add to his collection
whenever he travels. A holiday to Hong Kong in November was no
exception. He spent over Sin$200 at the Liquor & Tobacco store at
Terminal 2 on items including a bottle of Martini Dry Liquor
and Martell Cordon Bleu Cognac.
For the month of
November 2011, four lucky shoppers were also picked as the weekly
winners of Sin$1,000 each. Winning purchases ranged from Sin$80 to
over Sin$1,500 worth of perfumes and cosmetics, as well as duty
free products.
Grand Draw in February 2012
The drawing of
the last finalist for the month of November wrapped up the 30-week
long ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ campaign in 2011, which was part
of Changi Airport’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The draw,
which kicked off in May 2011, was the second run of the popular
shopping promotion which made its debut in 2010.
On 12
February, the seven monthly finalists will vie for the grand prize
of a million dollars in cash in an exciting Grand Draw, which will see one of them being crowned the Changi Millionaire.
Apart from the chance to win Sin$1 million, the monthly finalists
(other than the grand winner) will get Sin$5,000 in cash each,
plus a three-day/two-night stay in an hotel in
Singapore, with airfare provided for non-Singapore residents.
Including Mr Lim, three out of the seven finalists of the Grand
Draw are Singaporeans. The remaining four finalists are
Filipino, Thai, Australian and Dutch.
During the 30 weeks of the ‘Be a
Changi Millionaire’ promotion, a weekly prize of Sin$1,000 was
also given to one lucky winner every week. About 60% of the 30
weekly winners are Singaporeans, while the rest hail from
Indonesia, China and India.
Singaporeans contribute about 20%
to concession sales at Changi Airport.
