On 4 June 2012, SAS will begin flying direct
from Copenhagen to Tel Aviv. The route is one of 28 that SAS is
opening in 2012.
"We are seeing increasing demand for
routes to and from the Middle East. So we are very pleased to now
offer our customers the option of flying direct to Tel Aviv all
year round at competitive prices. Tel Aviv, which is on the
Mediterranean coast, is Israel's financial and commercial hub and
is growing fast. There is also a wealth of cultural experiences,
wonderful beaches and exceptional architecture," said Per Møller
Jensen, Vice President Brand, Marketing and EuroBonus.
Initially, there will be a departure from Copenhagen to Tel Aviv
every Monday. SAS will then be expanding capacity from July
with an additional departure on Thursday and from 28 October 2012 we
are able to offer three departures a week.
"There is no
doubt that a direct route to and from Tel Aviv will attract both
tourists and business people from the area to Scandinavia. We are
really looking forward to the launch of the route and being able
to welcome our passengers on board," Per Møller Jensen added.
SAS will be flying to Ben Gurion airport, which is nine miles
south-east of Tel Aviv, with the route operated by an Airbus 319,
which can accommodate 141 passengers, or an Airbus 321, which can
seat 198.
