LAN Peru has opened its new Maintenance
hangar at Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport to support the
growth of the airlines operations in Peru with an investment of
close to $10 million dollars.
The new LAN Peru maintenance hangar spans
145,312 square feet with 32,292 square feet of offices, 96,875
square feet of platforms and 16,146 square feet of workshops, for
the maintenance of Airbus A320 family (including the Airbus A319)
and Boeing 767 aircraft.
LAN Peru trained 300 Peruvian mechanics to
service the facility.
"This project is an example of the commitment
and confidence that LAN Peru has in the development and growth of
the country,” said Jorge Vilches, General Manager, LAN Peru. “The
new maintenance hangar joins the $660 million investment announced
last year for the purchase of eight new aircraft for the LAN Peru
fleet and the $50 million that is to be invested over the next
five years in the training of Peruvian pilots, crews and mechanics
at our new Technical Instruction Center (CIT) which will open in
the second half of this year."
