AirAsia X has enhanced its Inflight
Entertainment System (IFE) with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
The tab is now available on AirAsia X’s
AirAsia X
in partnership with Tune Box, the digital media arm of Tune Group,
is currently offering the Inflight Entertainment System, the
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on flights to Australia, Japan, Korea,
China, and Taiwan, with an all-enhanced high resolution screen and
premium sound system.
Tune Box has partnered Stellar, an
established supplier of entertainment content and technical
services to the airline industry which helps acquires film,
television, music, games and digital magazine content that
prepares and integrate all digital assets onto the Tune Box
platform.
Guests travelling to/from AirAsia X flights to
Australia (Perth, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney), China (Hangzhou,
Chengdu, Beijing), Korea (Seoul), Japan (Osaka, Tokyo) and Taiwan
(Taipei) may pre-book the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1for only MYR35 one way.
The tablet which has a long
battery life of up to 10 hours is also available for rent onboard all flights for MYR45 one way.
As a gadget junkie
himself, CEO of AirAsia X, Azran Osman-Rani, said, “We are always
on the lookout for ways to further improve our services and
enhance our guests’ inflight cabin experience. The Samsung Galaxy
Tab 10.1 will be a great change to our previous portable e-player
as it offers one of the best high definition screens, sound
system, and a powerful processor all packed in a sleek yet
lightweight tablet. On top of that, the tablet is also
considerably lighter than our previous e-player which cost
efficiently reduces the weight onboard our flights.”
Passengers will be able to enjoy preloaded movies and TV shows,
from popular Hollywood titles to a variety of international
foreign movies from Korea, Japan, and China and local Malaysian
movies. Passengers will also be able to listen to the likes of Gotye, Lana Del Ray, U2, Girls Generation,
Utada Hikaru, Eason Chan and many more music artists with more
than 150 tracks to choose from.
The tablet is also loaded with popular
games like Uno, Where’s Wally Now?, and Shark Dash. For those who
prefer a more quiet form of entertainment, digital magazines such
as AirAsia’s Travel 360 magazine, Passions and
International Business Review are available for guests to read on
the IFE Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
The new Samsung
Galaxy Tab 10.1 will replace the portable e-Player with immediate
effect and all AirAsia X guests who have booked the portable
e-player will receive the Samsung Galaxy
Tab 10.1 at no additional cost.
