Amid a regional shortage of trained revenue
management professionals, IDeaS Revenue Solutions has expanded its
partnership with The Cornell University School of Hotel
Administration to further advance the revenue management
profession within hotels.
Under the new agreement, IDeaS will double the
number of scholarships it offers within its Revenue Management
Scholarship Program. The program now includes 12 scholarships
annually for basic and advanced revenue management courses from
Cornell University.
“As more hospitality leaders recognize revenue
management’s valuable role and contributions to hotel success,
talented professionals are in high demand,” said Vivek Bhogaraju,
Senior Manager, Corporate Business Development, IDeaS. “In order
to foster increased awareness and interest in revenue management
among today’s hospitality students, we feel it is imperative to offer opportunities for growth and development in this important
field.”
As a provider of pricing and revenue
management software, services and consulting, IDeaS has been a
long-time partner of The Cornell University School of Hotel
Administration, one of the world’s leading institutions for hospitality
management. For the past three years, IDeaS has offered six
scholarships annually to qualified recipients, and winners have
spanned the U.S., Europe and China.
This year’s program
will include 12 scholarships and offer hospitality professionals
worldwide the opportunity to gain online revenue management
certifications from Cornell University. Scholarship recipients
will receive paid registration to five eCornell courses, leading
to certificates in either Hotel Revenue Management taught by Dr.
Sheryl Kimes, Professor of Operations Management, Cornell School
of Hotel Administration, or Advanced Revenue Management: Pricing
and Demand Strategies taught by Dr. Chris Anderson, Associate
Professor of Operations Management, Cornell School of Hotel
Administration.
“Partnering with companies like IDeaS is
critical to Cornell’s success and that of our faculty because it
allows us to interact very closely with the people who are at the
forefront of pricing and revenue management within hospitality,”
said Dr. Steve Carvell, Associate Professor and Associate Dean for
Academic Affairs, The Cornell University School of Hotel
Administration. “IDeaS’ expertise will help us promote more
sophisticated revenue management practices, and the synergies that
have come out of the partnership, such as the expanded scholarship
program, are already evident.”
The application deadline
for the Hotel Revenue Management scholarship is 25 May 2012. The
application deadline for the Advanced Revenue Management
scholarship is 9 September 2012.
