Coral Beach Resort Sharjah Introduces Non-Smoking Zones on Beach

The Coral Beach Resort – Sharjah has introduced designated non-smoking and smoking zones on its beach

“Smoking is optional, but breathing is not. So we’ve designated special non-smoking and smoking zones on the beach,” said Jean Pierre Simon, Regional General Manager, Northern UAE Coral Hotels & Resorts, pointing out that the move is in keeping with global trends to protect non-smokers in public places. “I think we’re the first beach resort in the Northern Emirates to implement such a rule and it makes great sense considering that families find us the ideal venue to spend quality time together.”

According to Simon, there’s no longer a scientific controversy that second-hand smoke is a killer, with WHO quoting studies to show that it causes the same problems as direct smoking, which include exposure to cancer-causing carcinogens. Many countries have introduced laws to eliminate smoking in public places.

“It’s an alarming public health hazard and our concern is to protect the health of infants and children, who are especially at risk from sudden infant death syndrome, lung infections such as bronchitis, ear infections and asthma,” Simon added.
