The Singapore Experience Awards 2012 honoured
the stars of Singapore's tourism industry at a much-anticipated
gala ceremony last night.
Held at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore,
the awards event was graced by Guest of Honour President, Tony Tan
Keng Yam.
The Awards, organised by the Singapore Tourism
Board, are designed to recognise and celebrate exemplary organisations and
individuals from Singapore's tourism sector for delivering a
complete visitor experience that reflects the strength of both
their products and services.
Mr Lionel Yeo, STB's Chief Executive shares, “A
great customer experience is integral to the success of a
destination. Tonight is a celebration of the winners and finalists
who have constantly pushed and challenged the boundaries to create great customer experiences. Their effort is an inspiration, not
only to their organisations but also to the rest of the industry.”
The evening also paid special recognition to
three individuals who have made positive impact on Singapore's
tourism sector with their innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.
The highest accolade, the Lifetime Achievement
for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism, was accorded to Mr
Benedict Soh, Executive Chairman of Kingsmen Creatives Limited for
raising the level of professionalism and standards in the retail
and Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE)
industry in Singapore.
Spa Esprit Group's founder, Ms Cynthia Chua, was
awarded Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year in recognition of her
innovative and creative contributions to Singapore's lifestyle and
dining scene.
Mrs Tan Keat Fong, Deputy Director of
Professional and International Relations of the National Library
Board took home the Business Event Ambassador award, for her
significant contributions in promoting Singapore as a global
business and meetings hub.
