Tahiti is about to be even more accessible for
travellers from Australia, with new one-stop connections from
Brisbane to Papeete for the peak season from 1 November 2011 until
25 March 2012.
Throughout this period, flights from Brisbane by
Qantas and Emirates will connect in Auckland every Thursday and
Sunday with Air Tahiti Nui flight TN 102 to Papeete.
Air Tahiti Nui already offers codeshare services
with Qantas from Sydney to Auckland, and beyond to Papeete on TN
102. There are also interline connections with Qantas and Emirates
from Melbourne to Auckland.
The new connections from Brisbane coincide with
strong growth in Air Tahiti Nui bookings from Australia to Tahiti
in the first half of 2011, with sales revenue growing by 34%
between January and June.
“Tahiti is one of the world’s most romantic,
remote and desirable destinations,” said Mark Hutchinson, General
Manager Australasia for Air Tahiti Nui. “The strong Australian
dollar and the introduction of a range of new package holidays in
the first half of this year have made Tahiti even more attractive
to travelling Australians ... Now, new peak
season flight connections from Brisbane are making Tahiti more
accessible as well, eliminating the need for Queensland passengers
to fly via Sydney or to overnight in Auckland.”
Under the new southern summer schedules, Qantas
flight QF 123 will depart Brisbane at 8.10am, while Emirates
flight EK 434 will leave at 08:25. Both are due to arrive in
Auckland at 14:35, linking smoothly with the 15:50 departure of
TN 102.
The Air Tahiti Nui Airbus A340-300 flight takes just
five hours to fly from Auckland to Papeete, crossing the
international dateline and arriving at 21:55 the previous evening.
The return flight from Papeete to Auckland, TN 101, arrives at
13:00 each Thursday and Sunday, connecting with onward flights to
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
