MCI, an association, event and communications
management company, has appointed Richard Rheindorf, Managing
Director of MCI Beijing Branch, responsible for PCO (Professional
Conference Organizer) and Association Management for China and
managing the Beijing branch office.
Since his arrival in China in 2009 he worked as
Country Manager China for Pacific World Beijing overseeing
operations and business development into the region.
Before moving to Asia he was holding the
position of the Regional Director USA & Canada by the German
Convention Bureau (GCB). In this role he was responsible for their
North American operations and strengthened Germany’s position as a
top destination for meetings incentive travel and convention
business by creating new marketing and sales opportunities to
bring together partners from the German and North American MICE
industry.
Rheindorf moved into that position after five
years at the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) in New York
where he held the position of Manager Communications, North
America. Prior to working at the GNTO in New York he was Deputy
Director for Canada at the GNTO in Toronto. Before arriving in
North America, he was Project Manager for Air France and Le
Meridien Hotels in Hamburg and Paris.
He holds a degree in Tourism and Hotel
Management, a MBA and CMP (Certified Meetings Professional).
During his tenure in the USA he served on several industry boards
and committees, including the CMP board of directors of the
Convention Industry Council.
