Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Tuesday, 8 February 2011

Hertz UAE has opened its first car rental branch in Al Ain to meet demand as the UAE’s garden city grows as a tourism and commercial centre.

In the short term, Al Ain’s current population of about 350,000 is expected to grow to reach 476,000 by 2013. Meanwhile, Plan Al Ain 2030, a blueprint for growth created by the Abu Dhabi Planning Council in 2007, states that the emirate’s population will treble by 2030 to reach one million residents.

“Al Ain is clearly progressing as a centre for business and leisure,” said Nigel Johnson, Managing Director of Hertz UAE . “It has growing academic and healthcare communities, and its tourism and manufacturing sectors are blossoming ... We look forward to servicing the dynamic Al Ain area with high quality rentals for our new and returning customers. The new branch reflects our commitment to Al Ain and to the UAE as a whole.”

The new outlet in the Sanaiya area is located next to the Al Futtaim Group’s Honda service centre.

The area hosts a number of auto servicing workshops drawing large numbers of people needing short and long term rentals while their vehicles are off the road. The new branch will offer extended opening hours to reflect the timings of the surrounding auto workshops.

The opening of the Al Ain branch means that Hertz UAE, part of the Al-Futtaim Group of companies, now has 14 locations across the UAE, including branches in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.
