Rolls-Royce has won a $350 million contract from
Hawaiian Airlines to deliver Trent 700 engines to power five
Airbus A330 aircraft. The order includes TotalCare long-term
services support.
The aircraft, to be delivered from 2013 to 2015,
will add to the airline’s current fleet of five Trent 700-powered
A330s and another 12 to be delivered.
Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian Airline’s President and
CEO said, “This announcement marks another important milestone in
the growth of our business and our long range fleet. The
Rolls-Royce Trent 700 delivers high levels of operational
performance and fuel-efficiency. It is the quietest engine for the
Airbus A330 – an important consideration for Hawaiian Airlines.”
Mark King, Rolls-Royce, President – Civil Aerospace,
added, “We
are very pleased that Hawaiian Airlines has again chosen to place its trust in our world-class engine technology, which is
underpinned by comprehensive TotalCare support. We look forward
to continuing to develop our important relationship and helping
Hawaiian Airlines maximise the benefits of Rolls-Royce
technology.”
The Trent 700 incorporates
technology from later generation Trent engines, which has further
improved its fuel-efficiency by 1%.
