Etihad Airways has appointed Mr Qutiaba Zahde as
Country Manager - Iran, responsible for overseeing the airline’s
commercial activities and sales growth in the Iranian market.
Mr Zahde takes over from Mr Nabil Matarweh who
has taken on the role of Country Manager in Kuwait for the
airline.
He has more than 25 years’ airline experience,
which has included positions with Swiss International Air Lines
and Kuwait Airways, and has spent more than 10 years in the
Arabian Gulf region.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief
Commercial Officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome Qutiaba to
Etihad Airways and know he will make a significant contribution to
Etihad’s presence in this market. Iran is an important strategic
destination and Etihad has enjoyed incredible growth in this
market recently, particularly with flights connecting to a growing
number of destinations in our global route network.”
Etihad’s three weekly services between Abu Dhabi
and Tehran offer air travellers convenient onward connections to a
number of key destinations across the airline’s global network,
including the GCC, Australia, China, Japan, the Indian
Subcontinent, Europe and North American destinations.
The airline started operations to the Persian
capital Tehran in January 2007. Etihad operates an Airbus A320
aircraft on the Abu Dhabi- Tehran route, configured to carry 140
passengers.
