Xiamen Airlines has taken delivery of a new
Boeing 737-700.
The aircraft is the 50th directly ordered Boeing
airplane delivered to Xiamen Airlines and incorporates both the
High-Altitude/High-Temperature Airport Operations Feature Package
and the new Boeing Sky Interior.
China is one of the few regions that operates
high altitude airports. With the High-Altitude/High-Temperature
Airport Operations Feature Package, Xiamen Airlines will be able
to optimize its 737-700 airplanes for operations in China's
demanding conditions.
A new engine thrust rating provides additional
payload capability at high altitude airports and in hot
conditions, important for operations in the Tibetan plateau.
Among other features that benefit airline
operations, the package also includes an extended duration oxygen
system and equipment designed for the enhanced navigation
requirements at high altitude airports.
"We're honored to partner with Xiamen Airlines
in the introduction of a new era of airline service to its
expanding fleet," said Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president of
Sales for Greater China and Korea, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
"The 737-700 with enhanced features will contribute to the
development of Xiamen Airline's operations in China's tableland
environmental areas."
The 737-700 also incorporates the Boeing Sky
Interior which features new lighting and curving architecture that
create a distinctive entry way. Passengers will be able to enjoy a
more open cabin feel and an environment simulated by
light-emitting diode (LED) lighting. The new interior also
features newly improved and expanded pivot bins that enable
passengers to load more baggage and helps keep disturbances to
aisle seat passengers to a minimum.
Established 27 years
ago, Xiamen Airlines has
thus far ordered 83 airplanes from Boeing.
