Worldhotels has reported that its room night
bookings for Q1 2011 show a 20% year-on-year increase. Increases
were seen across all booking channels, with the star performer
being Worldhotels’ internet booking engine Resmaster, which showed
growth of 26%.
Room nights booked via GDSs (Global Distribution
Systems) increased by 20%, while bookings made through the group’s
website showed an 11% increase.
The statistics
represent a significant success for Worldhotels given that 2010
was itself a record year for the group, showing a 25% increase in
room night production compared with 2009.
Even
compared to the pre-crisis figures of the first quarter of 2008,
this year boasts an increase of 33% of room nights.
Worldhotels Managing Director Robert Hornman believes the
group’s new ‘Fast Forward’ sales strategy has played a critical
role in its continuing growth.
“We have looked closely at
different markets, business segments and channels and are
committed to providing our affiliate hotels with the best tools
possible to capitalise on their opportunities,” Mr Hornman said. “Already this year we have introduced two new
products, OTA360° and Spider by Worldhotels, designed to help
hotels grow their online business, while a dedicated tool for MICE
professionals has also been launched ... Our first
quarter results are extremely positive and show that we are well
on the way to achieving our goals for 2011.”
