The Airports Council International (ACI) Asia
Pacific has named Ms. Qin Zhang of Shanghai International Airport
Company Limited, China, as the winner of ACI Asia Pacific
Young Executive of the Year Award 2011.
The ACI Asia Pacific Young Executive of the Year
Award was first introduced in 2009. It aims to honor the young
airport executives who show strong passion for the aviation
industry and propose innovative ideas to address the critical
issues facing today’s industry.
Each ACI Asia Pacific airport member is entitled
to nominate one candidate for this award. The candidates are to
submit research papers on one of the following topics:
• Comprehensive Review of Airport Business
Models • Aviation Security in Passenger Terminal Buildings •
Problems and Solutions in the Implementation of Safety Management
System (SMS)
A panel of judges then reviews the submissions
and selects the winner based on the quality and potential
contribution to the aviation industry made by the research paper.
Mr. Dennis Chant, Managing Director, Queensland
Airports Limited and Chairman of the Panel of Judges said, “We
have faced some very challenging times in the last decade and the
objective of launching this award is to encourage young executives
in the region to contribute innovative inputs to cope with the
challenges. I would like to congratulate Ms. Zhang from Shanghai
International Airport Company Limited for her distinctive
viewpoints suggested in her research paper. We have received
sixteen submissions this year I must say the competition is
fierce. I am glad that we have a pool of brilliant young
executives in our region who have brought forth some innovative
ideas which could be converted to successful commercial ventures!”
Ms. Qin Zhang is now working in the Marketing
Department of Shanghai International Airport Company Limited as
the Air Services Manager. Ms. Zhang will be awarded with a
complementary trip to New Delhi, India where she will make a
presentation to the Asia Pacific Regional Assembly to share her
findings on the topic: Comprehensive Review of Airport Business
Models.
The judges also decided to give honorable
mentions to two other outstanding candidates, Mr. Motohiro
Futamata, Manager, Airport Operation Division, Central Japan
International Airport Co., Ltd. (Centrair) and Mr. Arif Al Amri,
Cargo Operations Manager, Dubai Airports.
The Trophy Award Ceremony will be held on 6 April 2011 during the 6th ACI Asia Pacific Regional Assembly to be
held in New Delhi, India.
