Ms. Heidi Kunkel has been promoted to Chief
Executive Officer of Club Med East, South Asia and Pacific, based
in Singapore.
Heidi joined Club Med in 2003, and was most recently
President of Japan and Korea and previously held the position of
General Manager Pacific. She has promoted strong growth in the
Asia Pacific region and also improved business performance in
Japan despite a difficult context. Heidi will now develop and grow
Club Med’s business further in the East, South Asia and Pacific
markets.
A
newly-named East, South Asia and Pacific business unit located in
Singapore, will manage sales in the Asia Pacific markets of Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia,
Thailand, India and Indonesia. It will also be responsible for
operations in eight resorts including Kabira Beach, Sahoro, Kani,
Phuket, Cherating Beach, Bali, Bintan Island and Lindeman Island.
It aims to build a strong momentum and profitable growth across
these markets.
A new Greater China Business
Unit, located in Shanghai, is being created to spearhead Club
Med’s projects in China. Club Med successfully opened its first
resort in China – the Yabuli Resort – in 2010 and is actively
working on new projects in the country. It plans to operate five
resorts by 2015 with 200,000 clients, thus making China Club Med’s
second largest market.
Olivier Horps has been appointed Chief
Executive Officer of this new Greater China Business Unit.
Olivier
joined Club Med in 2007 and has demonstrated his capacity to
develop growth in Asia. He was successively appointed Sales and
Marketing Director, Asia, and Managing Director, Asia Pacific. He
will relocate to Shanghai to lead Club Med’s development of the
Greater China Business Unit.
The mission of the Greater China
Business Unit is to plan and organise its business development to
reach this objective as well as forge relations with Fosun, a
major Chinese group, which is the shareholder and business partner
of Club Med. This new business unit will cover sales across three
key markets – China, Taiwan and Hong Kong – and handle operations
of the Chinese resorts, beginning with the recently-opened Yabuli
Resort.
Both the Greater China Business Unit and East,
South Asia and Pacific Business Units will be effective from 1 May
2011.
