Champ Cargosystems has been selected by TAP
Portugal to help manage the airline’s growth as the Portuguese
flag carrier reported a 24% increase in cargo volumes for 2010.
TAP Cargo’s growth included a very significant
increase in Brazilian imports and exports as cargo and mail
transported reached 94,000 tonnes last year. The company is
expecting further growth this year following an agreement signed
with Champ Cargosystems on long-term use of the Cargospot suite of
cargo management solutions.
The airline is adopting Cargospot Airline,
Handling, Revenue Accounting, Business Intelligence and ULD
Management modules in a move towards an integrated end-to-end
portfolio which should bring immediate efficiencies while creating
revenue opportunities and meeting global compliancy requirements.
TAP Cargo is also subscribing to Global Customs
Gateway (GCG), which provides customs authorities with advance
information on shipments. CargoWEB, Champ’s web booking,
distribution and tracking solution, will also be provided as a
hosted ASP (application service provider) service.
“Our Cargospot portfolio is a key business
enabler and our growing customer base ensures constant innovation
in a cost-effective manner. TAP Cargo can be confident it has the
IT tools needed to manage its business effectively,” said James
Fernandez, Champ Cargosystems VP Sales and Marketing. “By
incorporating Cargospot Revenue into its overall cargo management,
TAP Cargo will benefit from expedited billing and improved cash
flow, protecting it from delays, incorrect or over charging by
other airlines or sales agents. Our business intelligence suite
provides a seamless view across all areas of business performance
for optimized decision support.”
TAP Portugal has been in operation since 1945
and has a network of 64 destinations in 30 countries worldwide.
