Hawaii’s flag carrier, Hawaiian Airlines, will
be launching daily nonstop flights between Honolulu and New York
city’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, starting 4 June
2012.
Flight HA 50 (Hawaiian 5-0) - will depart
Honolulu daily at 15:05 and arrive in New York City at 06:55 the
following morning.
Passengers from Australia will be able to
connect in Honolulu, with Hawaiian’s daily flight HA 452 from
Sydney scheduled to arrive at 10.55, enabling travellers to clear
US Customs then continue on the afternoon service to New York.
The return service, Hawaiian flight HA 51, will
depart JFK daily at 10:00 and arrive at Honolulu
International Airport at 15:00, enabling passengers to holiday
in tropical Hawaii before continuing to Australia.
“New
York is an important part of our growth strategy. Hawaiian is the
leading airline in Hawaii’s largest tourism market, the U.S. West
Coast, and we are expanding in Hawaii’s third largest market,
Asia,” said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Adding service to the largest market in the
Eastern U.S., Hawaii’s second largest tourism market, was a
logical step.”
Hawaiian will operate Honolulu -
New York flights with new Airbus A330-200 aircraft, seating 294
passengers - 18 in First Class and 276 in Economy Class.
The
wide-body, twin-aisle A330s offer the comforts of a spacious
interior, new generation seats with increased legroom, and a
state-of-the-art, on-demand entertainment system in every
seatback, providing a wide variety of movies and other programs,
audio channels and video games. Each system also offers a USB port
allowing system connectivity for personal media players, with
First Class customers enjoying larger in-seat LCD screens and iPOD
compatibility.
