Qantas has launched direct flights between
Sydney and Dallas Fort Worth (DFW).
Operated by a Boeing 747
aircraft, QF7 departs Sydney Airport at 13:25 local time, and is
scheduled to arrive at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport at
13:50 local time.
The inbound service, QF8, departs DFW at 22:00
local time, arriving in Brisbane at 05:00 and flying onwards to
Sydney to land at 08:05. Flying time from Sydney to DFW is 15
hours 25 minutes, and flying time from DFW to Brisbane is 16
hours.
DFW is Qantas' first new international destination
since Buenos Aires in 2008. The service will initially operate
four times per week, with a view to increasing the frequency in
future.
Through its codeshare partnership with American Airlines,
Qantas will offer services beyond DFW to 54 destinations in the
United States, Canada and Mexico - including Chicago, Las Vegas,
Miami, New Orleans, New York, Washington, Toronto, Vancouver,
Cancun and Mexico City.
"This new
service takes Qantas customers into the heart of the United
States, with a wide range of options for onward travel," said Qantas Chief Executive Officer, Mr
Alan Joyce. "Dallas and Fort Worth are attractive destinations
in their own right, combining rapid economic growth with Texas'
rich heritage ... However, what sets DFW apart are the
connections its world-class airport provides to other major cities
in the United States, Canada and Mexico. This makes it the perfect
platform for Qantas to develop its relationship with our oneworld
partner American Airlines, beginning with a significant expansion
of codesharing to capitalise on DFW's hub location."
