Hong Kong-based New World Hospitality has assumed
management of the newly named Chancery Court Hotel, London, formerly
the Renaissance London Chancery Court Hotel.
The hotel
and heritage property will be operated as an independent luxury
hotel in the group’s portfolio. Mr. Matthias Roeke has been
appointed general manager.
Opened in 1914 and constructed
in Edwardian Belle Epoque design, today the luxury hotel has 356
guestrooms and is home to The Spa at Chancery Court and a range of
restaurants and lounges including Pearl Restaurant & Bar.
With its
distinctive architectural elements and 1,065 square metres of
meeting space, the hotel is a popular venue for conferences,
special events and weddings.
Located in Holborn, Chancery Court
Hotel is near the city’s major business centres and tourist
attractions such as Covent Garden, the Royal Opera House, West End
theatres, museums, galleries and shopping districts.
The
hotel was awarded Visit London’s Outstanding Customer Service
Award in 2010 and is a member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts.

first in Europe and an exquisite addition to our spectrum of
hotels,” said Sonia Cheng, chairman of New World Hospitality. “We
will manage it as an independent luxury property, keeping its
distinctive charm and high service standards, while supporting
greater exposure of the hotel to international clientele.”
Matthias Roeke
Hotel General Manager Roeke has more than 20 years hotel
management experience. Most recently, Roeke spent seven years with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, including opening the acclaimed
China World Summit Wing Beijing as general manager. His career has encompassed management positions at luxury hotels in Germany, Hong
Kong, India, Korea, Singapore, South Africa and Thailand. Roeke
launched his career in Berlin following hotel and restaurant
training in his native Germany.
