AEG’s Asia division has appointed Adam Wilkes as Senior Vice President, Music and Touring, Asia.

In this newly created position, Wilkes will work under both AEG China’s John Cappo to drive programming for the company’s China venues and AEG Live’s John Meglen to develop an Asia-based touring circuit.

Wilkes, with extensive experience promoting live concerts and events throughout Asia, will be an integral part of AEG’s global touring strategy. He will initially focus on bringing live performances, sports competitions, festivals, and touring to venues throughout Asia at a standard for which AEG is globally renowned.

Wilkes has been at the forefront of the live entertainment industry's emergence in China and instrumental to its growth. Over the past ten years, Wilkes has promoted more than 100 concerts and sports competitions in the region, including a number of firsts for the Chinese market: first Western act to top 35,000 in attendance (Celine Dion); first Western rock concert in a stadium (Linkin Park); and first major hip hop tour (Black Eyed Peas). Wilkes also promoted James Brown's now legendary performance at Shanghai's intimate Yunfeng Theater during the singer's final tour.

AEG China CEO John Cappo said “AEG continues to expand its network of world-class arenas in China. Adam will bring his depth of experience and expertise to developing a strong tour circuit throughout China and the Asia Pacific region. We are delighted that he joins the strong and growing AEG team.”
