Smiths Detection has won a contract to provide
about 50 Advanced Threat Identification X-ray (aTiX) systems for
security checkpoints at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA).
The order from the German Interior Ministry
comprises HI-SCAN 6040 aTiX and HI-SCAN 7555 aTiX systems,
combined with re-inspection components, and other equipment to
facilitate carry-on baggage screening for liquid explosives.
Cherif Rizkalla, Chief Commercial Officer of Smiths Detection,
said, “This latest order from Germany underlines our leading role
in supplying advanced detection technologies that meet the strict
EU security requirements for detecting liquid threats.”
Smiths Detection’s aTiX was
one of the first Liquid Explosive Detection
systems to receive EU Standard 2 Type C certification in
preparation for the phased easing of the liquids ban in hand
luggage.
aTiX captures multiple views of luggage in a single sweep
and features automatic explosives and liquid detection. Its
software algorithms can also be updated to detect evolving threats
without the need for replacing the machine.
