Marriott has signed a management agreement with
Sanding Holding Group for a 281-room Marriott-branded hotel in
Yiwu, China. The new hotel is scheduled to open in 2014.
The Yiwu Marriott Hotel will be
located at the juncture of Shangcheng and Futian Roads in close
proximity of the International Trade City.
“After establishing a solid presence in China’s
major coastal cities, we’re excited by our continued expansion
into the country’s secondary and tertiary cities,” said Simon
Cooper, Marriott International’s president and managing director
for the Asia Pacific Region. “We’re confident that the hotel’s
superb location and quality of design coupled with the local
government’s active promotion of the city as the top MICE
destination in Zhejiang Province, will contribute strongly to the
Yiwu Marriott quickly becoming the hotel of choice for domestic
and international visitors to the city.”
Dining and entertainment options at the hotel will comprise
of a three-meal restaurant with a permanent buffet; a Chinese food
outlet with 22 private dining rooms, 11 of which will be located
at the hotel’s top floor offering views of the city and park
below; and a specialty restaurant.
Business
travel amenities will include an executive level and lounge that
will offer a private meeting room and a business center that will have two separate meeting rooms.
Recreational amenities will include an indoor
swimming pool and a health club with state-of-the-art equipment.
For social events and conferences, the
hotel’s 1,410 square meters of function space will include an
850-square meter grand ballroom that will be divisible into three
sections; three individual meeting rooms in varying configurations
that will also be divisible into sections and a 70-square meter
board room.
