Lothar Quarz has been appointed as the new
general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial
Centre (DIFC).
A German national, Mr Quarz has over 27 years of senior
management experience in the luxury hotel industry. Most recently,
he was the general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg, right
in the heart of the famed Autostadt theme park. He moved into that
role from the hotel manager position at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin
where he also oversaw the sales and marketing division of that
property and Berlin Marriott Hotel.
A culinary aficionado, Mr. Quarz started his hospitality career as an apprentice chef and
grew through the ranks to become a gourmet restaurant chef. He
then moved from the kitchen to sales where he applied his culinary
knowledge in a catering capacity before taking on his first
position as director of sales and marketing.
“I’m
excited to be joining The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International
Financial Centre at such a pivotal time,” said Mr. Quarz. “The
opening of our hotel signals a financial resurgence in Dubai and
we look forward to positioning our hotel as the ultimate business
hotel in the Middle East.”
Standing 14 storeys
high, The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC features five signature restaurants,
a 1,400 square meter ballroom with a separate entrance, a spa with
13 treatment rooms, and indoor swimming pool. The 341-room hotel,
with 124 executive residences, will be the second in Dubai and the
sixth property in the region for the award-winning luxury hotel
company.
The hotel will welcome its first guests in December 2010.
