Banyan Tree Bangkok’s Vertical Marathon, now in
its twelfth consecutive year, will take place this year on 3
October 2010. Beside the professional and amateur runners, all
members of the community, together with friends and family of the
hotel, are invited to join.
Those who participate or come to support their
friends will be contributing their part in Banyan Tree Bangkok’s
long-term efforts to support HIV-positive mothers through the HIV
Formula Feeding Fund organised by the Thai Red Cross under the
patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali. Over THB
3million has been raised through this annual event, with
THB400,000 collected in 2009.

Registration capped at only 555 participants • Advance
registration is required from 1 September to 26 September 2010,
and can be done at the hotel or online • Complimentary trial
runs will be held from 9am to 12pm between 25 - 26 September 2010.

multinational mix of participants, including international and
local professional and amateur runners, is expected to race the
vertical course to the finishing point at Vertigo and Moon Bar,
the renowned alfresco restaurant located on the 61st floor, once a
helipad of Banyan Tree Bangkok. Runners will be divided into
gender and age categories, and they may team up for couple and
relay teams.
During the event, guests and observers will be
entertained with a live band and special shows. Moreover, guests
of honour including Thai superstars and celebrities often appear
to lend their support and enjoy the festive atmosphere. After the
award presentation and closing ceremony, the winners of male and
female categories will receive trophies given from Her Royal
Highness Princess Soamsawali. Other awards include complimentary
accommodation and gift certificates from Banyan Tree Bangkok.
Every runner who reaches the finish point will receive a medal for
their memorable achievement. The time to beat is 6 minutes and 19
seconds, the record set by eight-time winner Mr. Boonchoo Jandacha
from Thailand.
