Ryanair has confirmed that its optional
checked-in bag fees will return to €15 (per bag) and €25 (for
heavy bags) for travel from 1 September 2010 onwards on all routes
except international routes to/from the Canary Islands, which will
remain at €20 (per bag) and €30 (heavy bag).
Ryanair passengers can avoid checked-in
baggage fees altogether by snapping up a Ryanair approved Samsonite cabin bag (available on ryanair.com) to fully utilise their
free 10kg carry-on allowance.
“Ryanair encourages passengers to travel
light with our free 10KG carry-on bag allowance. By increasing our
optional checked-in baggage fees this summer the number of
checked-in bags reduced while passenger numbers increased,” said Ryanair’s
Stephen McNamara. “Now Ryanair will encourage passengers to travel
light on our international routes to/from the Canary Islands this
winter by keeping optional checked-in baggage fees at €20(15KG)
and €30 (20KG). Almost 70% of Ryanair’s Canary Islands passengers
will be unaffected by these changes because they already travel
without checked-in bags.”
