Etihad Airways has welcomed its fifth group of
Emirati graduate managers, who have commenced training at the
airline’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The group of five Emiratis, three men and two
women, has come to Etihad from across the UAE and will undertake a
21-month training graduate management development programme
(GMDP). This involves a nine-month workplace orientation in key
Etihad departments, followed by a six month placement with a
specified team. Their last phase involves a business based
project.
“The Etihad Airways Emiratisation programme
continues to expand at a remarkable rate, supporting the
development of UAE national talent. We are proud to welcome the
new group of trainees to the airline, to follow in the footsteps
of our previous GMDP groups, who are now deployed in posts across
the airline, both locally and internationally,” said James Hogan, chief executive officer of Etihad
Airways.
“During the next 21 months, these young men and women will gain
valuable knowledge and experience from many of the airline’s
departments, learning about the company and the aviation industry.
We look forward to them passing their assessments and course work
which will lead to the building of successful careers.”
The GMDP training involves a combination of classroom
learning and hands-on experience. The work placements include
outstation airport operations, customer service, sales and
marketing, reservations, pricing and ticketing, network and
schedule planning, finance and human resources.
Upon
successful completion of the programme, the graduates will attain
an internationally recognised and accredited post graduate
diploma.
