China Airlines has signed a Strategic
Cooperation Framework Agreement with the municipal government of
Fuzhou, the bustling capital of southeastern China's Fujian
Province.
Categories covered by the agreement include the
launching of direct passenger and cargo aviation routes between
Taiwan's main international airport at Taoyuan and Fuzhou's main
airport, the development and promotion of transportation logistics
hub construction projects in Fuzhou aimed at building on the
city's status both as a provincial capital and a major center of
economic growth in the Taiwan Strait region, the joint planning
and promotion of a new "Fuzhou Aviation Industrial Park", and the
strengthening of tourism industry cooperation between Taiwan and
Fuzhou.
This agreement, the first of its kind ever
signed between China Airlines and a municipal government in
mainland China, demonstrates China Airlines' further strengthened
commitment to developing operations in mainland China.
CAL is also preparing to launch twice-weekly
scheduled cargo service between Taoyuan and Fuzhou, which is
expected to transport large amounts of electronic products and
sporting goods.
The rapidly emerging cross-Taiwan Strait
aviation market has become a major priority for the China Airlines
Group, which presently operates 61 weekly passenger flights to 14
destinations across mainland China as well as six weekly all-cargo
flights to Shanghai-Pudong and Guangzhou.
