MasterCard has confirmed that it will hold its
annual Global Risk Management Conference in Singapore, 3 - 6
August 2010. The three-day symposium is expected to welcome
hundreds of attendees from across the Asia Pacific, Middle East
and Africa region.
“This regional MasterCard annual risk management
conference is just one of the many ways that MasterCard
continually works with our partners to help ensure the safety and
security of the global payments system,” said Wendy Murdock, chief
franchise officer for MasterCard Worldwide. “The strategies and
tactics offered during this event will help ensure that data
security professionals are up-to- speed on some of the latest
approaches to payment card fraud prevention while also
highlighting some new fraud management products being introduced
to the marketplace.”
The conference will offer thought-provoking breakout
sessions and informative presentations by well-renowned industry
experts. The featured sessions will take an in-depth look at
global fraud issues as well as unique challenges specific to the
regions represented at the event. Some of the key topic areas at
the conference include:
- Chip & PIN: Fraud Mitigation as a Result of
EMV Implementation – Experts will discuss the impact of Chip cards
in combating global fraud and how its implementation affects
various types of payment card fraud.
- Safeguarding Against Point of
Interaction (POI) Manipulations by Organized Crime – This session
will provide an overview of how fraudsters are targeting attacks
against POI terminals and highlight what stakeholders can do to
better identify these attacks and how to prevent them.
- Empowering the Cardholder in the Fight Against
Fraud – Attendees will learn how they can leverage various fraud
management products currently available to ensure they have robust
and efficient systems in place to control card authorizations and
minimize fraudulent transactions.
Also new this year, MasterCard will be offering
pre and post-conference seminars and workshops.
The pre-conference Plastic Card Vendor seminar
will focus on MasterCard’s Global Vendor Certification Program and
the new Card Structure and Integrity Program, as well as recent
developments with contactless, near-field communication, Chip and
PIN, and mobile payment card technologies. The seminar offers
vendors an opportunity to network with key decision makers from
financial institutions, processors, and payment card service
providers.
MasterCard also is offering a Payment Card Industry
Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) pre-conference workshop that will
highlight recent findings from account data compromise events to
help attendees better recognize the warning signs associated with
a potential compromise event.
The post-conference seminar will focus on
educating customers on the various compliance programs MasterCard
manages to help ensure the integrity of the global payment card
system. Attendees will gain an even better understanding of the
MasterCard rules they need to follow and tools they can use to
improve or enhance compliance performance.
