Suntec Singapore centre recorded its highest
occupancy ever as it welcomed more than 1 million visitors who
attended 102 events – just for the month of June – hosting on
average 5 events a day.
Reaching an occupancy rate of 98%, June 2010 was
the busiest month in its 15-year history. MICE business alone
recorded the highest occupancy in 2010 at 84%.
"It was a phenomenal month that exceeded our
wildest expectations and the record number is a testament to the
trust our clients put in our service and operational excellence.
For this busy time we worked closely with many of our clients who
chose to reschedule their events simply to hold their events at
our venue," said Pieter Idenburg, CEO of Suntec Singapore. “The
buzz is expected to continue as the venue gears up to host and
welcome the athletes and team officials for the first ever Youth
Olympic Games in Singapore. I keep telling my staff that the best
is yet to come."
Notable events included the Singapore
International Water Week and the World Cities Summit which drew
14,000 delegates from 85 countries, the Asian Investment
Conference and Exhibition 2010 and the 3rd APS Global Education
Conference 2010 held meetings and conferences, while Tat Hong
Holdings and the Singapore Taekwondo Federation celebrated their
dinners and dances at the ballroom, which sits 1,100
people.
Suntec Singapore also welcomed events such as
the International Conference on Emergency Medicine and Robocup
2010 in June, who held their events at the centre for the first
time.
The annual PC show continued to draw large
crowds, with 950,000 people who spent Sin$52.1 million, snapping
up electronics and consumer products including laptops, printers,
digital cameras and computer peripherals.
