Visitor arrivals to Singapore registered 24.2%
growth to reach 857,000 in February 2010. This is the highest
recorded visitor arrivals in the month of February. Visitor days
were estimated at 3.3 million days, a year-on-year growth of 16.3%
in comparison with
February 2009.
Indonesia (144,000), P.R. China (143,000),
Malaysia (69,000), Australia (55,000), and UK (48,000) were
Singapores top five visitor-generating markets in February 2010.
These markets accounted for 53% of total visitor arrivals for the
month.
In February 2010, P.R. China (+78.7%), Malaysia
(+50%) and Taiwan (+39.2%) registered their highest growth out
of the top 15 markets, which can be largely attributed to the
Chinese New Year holiday. 13 out of the top 15 markets also
registered positive year-on-year growth in February this year,
reflecting the general improvement in travel sentiment to
Singapore.
Gazetted hotel room revenue was estimated at
Sin$133 million, representing an increase of 5.8% compared to a year
ago. Average Occupancy Rate posted a 4.9 percentage point
increase over February 2009 to reach 79.7% in February 2010.
Average Room Rate declined 1.5% over
February 2009 to reach an estimate of Sin$201 in February 2010.
Revenue Per Available Room increased
by 4.9% to reach Sin$160 in February 2010.
Hotel room revenue grew 5.8% against
February 2009 to reach an estimated Sin$133 million.
In February 2010, the AOR of Economy-tier
reported the largest growth (+8.4 percentage points) against
February 2009 to reach 74%.
The ARR of the luxury tier recorded the largest
growth against February 2009 (+4.6%) to reach $347 in February
2010.
Hotels in the luxury tier reported the largest
growth in RevPAR (+9.5%) in February 2010 to reach $261.
