Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Wednesday, 24 March 2010

Amadeus has launched an online booking engine for Myanmar Airways International’s international and domestic customers.

Utilising Amadeus’ e-Retail, Web e-Ticketing and Payment Gateway solutions, the new online booking system will enable more convenient access to flights within, to and from Myanmar. The goal of the site is to stimulate passenger numbers by opening the Myanmar Airways International product to the online consumer segment, drive cost efficiencies and increase international awareness of the airline’s services. This will help propel long-term regional expansion.

The implementation of Myanmar Airways International’s e-commerce system means that customers can now book and pay for flights directly through maiair.com. Upon settlement of transaction, customers will immediately receive a confirmation email and copy of their e-ticket.

Mr. Aung Gyi, Managing Director, Myanmar Airways International, said, “We continue to improve our customer service and this project with Amadeus provides a very important, new information and booking service via the internet to all of our customers globally, whether they are local in Myanmar, elsewhere in the Asian region, or further afield globally. Establishing a world-class e-commerce solution is a key priority and focus for us. We are delighted to be partnering with Amadeus and implementing the world’s most widely used airline Internet Booking Engine, already in place at many large carriers.”

“Interest in, and passenger numbers travelling to Myanmar are increasing year-on-year. The Amadeus online booking system will not only provide a new booking option for customers already familiar with our airline and its services, but also help us reach more international travelers around the world. Additionally, the Amadeus e-commerce suite will allow Myanmar Airways to consider offering other new products and services through our website,” he added.
