Mr. Peter Feran has been appointed as General
Manager of the Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam, a 142-room
property located in the heart of downtown Bandar Seri Begawan,
Brunei’s capital city. The property will be
converted to the upscale, full-service Radisson brand on 1 May
2010 and marks Carlson’s entry into Brunei, a country located
on the north west coast of the island of Borneo. The property
currently operates as the Sheraton Bandar Seri Begawan.
The opening supports Carlson’s plan to add
another 250 hotels globally in key target markets, and emerging
markets such as Brunei, over the next five years as part of
Carlson’s Ambition 2015 strategy.
Feran, an Australian national, took the
helm of leadership at the hotel on 17 March 2010. A natural
leader with strong operational skills and background, Feran has
almost two decades of international hospitality experience in
hotels throughout Asia, Australia and the United Kingdom. Prior to
his latest appointment, he was hotel manager at the Radisson Plaza
Hotel Sydney, a heritage-listed property.
“We needed a strong
leader with extensive experience and an exceptional property
performance record to bring the full Radisson brand experience to
our guests in Brunei, which is also a new market for us. Peter’s
experience in all facets of hotel operations will be a key
strength as we continue to grow the Radisson brand in Asia,” said
Jean-Marc Busato, managing director, Asia Pacific.
The Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam is
located in the centre of Brunei’s commerce, finance and
government district. It will be walking distance to some of the
city’s famous tourist attractions such as the Jame’ Asr Mosque,
Brunei’s largest mosque; Kampong Ayer, the world’s oldest
over-water village; and Ulu Ulu Resort, a national park and home
to the near extinct Proboscis monkey.
