Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas Hua Hin
has signed on as one of the official sponsors of the Royal Trophy
golf championship, which will be staged from 7-9 January 2011.
The championship, the fifth in the series, will
be held at the Black Mountain Golf Club in the coastal town of Hua
Hin.
Played by teams representing the Asian and
European continents, the championship will feature eight players
and a captain representing each continent in a series of sixteen
foursomes, four-ball and singles matches.
As part
of its sponsorship arrangement, the Sofitel Centara Grand Resort &
Villas will accommodate the European team with 40 rooms for seven
nights.
The hotel will also have a booth at the
Black Mountain Golf Course supplying light snacks and
refreshments.
Hua Hin was Thailands first seaside
resort, having evolved when a railway line was built from Bangkok
to the Malaysia border during the early part of the 20th century.
Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas was built in
1923 as the Railway Hotel, and the elegance of a bygone era is
carefully retained in this fascinating colonial style low-rise
resort, which boasts a topiary with meticulously sculpted
elephants, squirrels and birds, and is set on 16 hectares of
beachfront land.
The hotel features 207 luxurious
rooms and suites, with 42 private spa and pool villas and an array
of fine-dining restaurants.
