Jetstar has begun recruitment in Singapore
for its Jetstar Cadet Pilot Training program with the aim of
attracting top aviation potential in Singapore to a career with
Jetstar and its expanding Pan Asian operations.
These new structured schemes have been developed
in partnership with the Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) and include
the Jetstar Cadet Pilot Training Program and the Advanced Cadet
Program.
Oxford Aviation Academy has worked with
the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore to plan and accredit
both programs in Singapore and with Jetstar is now commencing the
recruitment process and accepting applications for both schemes.
The Jetstar Cadet Pilot Training Program is an 18
month program. The program will initially seek up to 30
Singaporean or residents in the region to join the program in 2011
with selection taking place in January and the course starting in
March next year. Suitable candidates may have limited or no flying
experience, however they must meet Jetstar’s requirements for
aptitude, quality and safety to enter.
The Advanced
Cadet Program is a six month program that will be launched in
February 2011. It is designed to assist non-commercial pilots
transitioning to commercial flying. Jetstar and OAA will be
looking to attract experienced pilots who can undertake the course
to obtain their ATPL and be qualified as a commercial pilot. There
will be around 40 places available on this program.
Both programs will offer successful applicants a career
development path into Jetstar as an Airbus A320 Pilot on
completion. The training for these programs will be split between
Singapore, OAA’s Australia training facility in Melbourne and
OAA’s type training centre in Hong Kong.
In
support of this new partnership, OAA is establishing a dedicated
Ground Training Centre in Singapore for all CAAS approved ATPL Theoretical Knowledge Training recognising Singapore as a hub of
excellence for aviation training in the future.
Jetstar Asia Chief Executive Officer Ms Chong Phit Lian said both
programs were designed to provide fantastic new pilot career opportunities for Singaporeans and to support the growth of the
Jetstar network in Asia.
“These programs will play
a critical role in securing an additional source of high quality,
experienced and well trained pilots to support our growth
aspirations, particularly in Asia over the next few years,” Ms
Chong said. “Working with a world leader in
aviation education in Oxford Aviation Academy we will be able to
give people fantastic new opportunities at skilled aviation
careers, further building on our aspirations to build a centre of
excellence for Jetstar here in Singapore.”
