Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Thursday, 19 August 2010

From 15 October 2010 the spectacular Picasso exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zurich will attract visitors from all over the world.

To experience this outstanding art event in Zurich, The Dolder Grand, Design Hotels’ newest member in Switzerland, is offering guests a 10% discount on tickets for the Picasso exhibition between 15 October 2010 and 30 January 2011.

Located above the city and originally built as a “Curhaus” health spa in 1899, the hotel has been transformed by renowned architects Foster and Partners into a luxury city resort. The interior design from United Designers is decorated with many classical and contemporary pieces of art selected by the owner Urs E. Schwarzenbach.

The Picasso Exhibition

Excitement is growing for the upcoming art exhibition by the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso at the Kunsthaus Zürich. It will showcase over 70 outstanding original pieces selected by the painter himself. The originals are loans from galleries and museums including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Tate Modern in London and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid.

After an overindulgence of culture, The Dolder’s 4,000 m² spa is the perfect escape. The spa was developed using a concept from the American spa expert Silvia Sepielli combining Japanese and European traditions to offer a wide range of wellness treatments such as bamboo shiatsu and therapeutic salt baths. The spa also provides beauty therapies, workout facilities and an organically shaped pool area with large windows which frame stunning vistas.

Surrounded by views of lake Zurich and the Swiss alps, The Dolder Grand spa took the title of “Smartest Escape” in the Tatler Spa Awards. This is especially true this autumn, as the spa provides the perfect balance to relax the mind and body after an enriching day of cultural entertainment.
