Denver International Airport recorded its
busiest January ever with 3,776,403 travelers passing through the
facility in the first month of this year.
The monthly total was 2.9% higher than the
3,669,679 passengers who used DIA during January 2009. It was the
largest monthly passenger increase at DIA since December 2008,
when year-over-year traffic rose 4.8%.
“We had anticipated that January would show an
upward trend because many airlines had reported passenger
increases for the month,” said Denver Aviation Manager, Kim Day.
“This is good news for us and for our airline partners. We hope
that this positive movement is yet another indication that the
national economy is beginning to improve.”
DIA also reported increases in flight operations
and cargo handled in January. Flight operations rose 1% to 50,946,
and cargo handled jumped 6.7% to 42,743,710 pounds.
