WORLDHOTELS has reported a buoyant start to
2010, boosting its total room night production and revenue by 30%
in the first quarter of 2010 compared to the same period last
year.
In terms of individual booking channels, this
means a double digit growth in revenue and room night production
across all channels. For example WORLDHOTELS was able to increase
its room nights booked via the global distribution systems (GDS)
by 20%, via call centres by 86%, via its booking engine Resmaster
by 92% and via its website by 113%.
Looking at the GDS production of hotels which
were part of the portfolio of WORLDHOTELS in Q1 2008 and Q1 2009
(same store portfolio), a particularly significant increase in
room nights was generated for properties in Tokyo (+80%),
Singapore (+102%), New York (+88%), Frankfurt (+46%) and London
(+39%).
In addition, the hotel group also enlarged its
GDS market share in a number of destinations, especially Lisbon,
Stockholm, Basel, Tokyo and Singapore.
In the first quarter 2010, WORLDHOTELS
kicked-off its ambitious expansion plan with the target to add 100
new hotels to its global portfolio this year. With 27 hotels
already newly contracted since January, the company is well on the
way to reach its goal. Among the new hotels are the Royal Garden
Hotel in London’s Kensington, the Milano Scala in Milan, the
Newhotel Marseille, the Hotel Fabian in Helsinki and two of the
most spectacular hotels of the brand new CityCenter project in Las
Vegas, the Aria Hotel & Casino and the Vdara Resort & Spa.
“We are very satisfied with the results of the
first quarter 2010,” said Robert Hornman, Managing Director of
WORLDHOTELS. “We even surpassed our room night production of 2008,
the year before the economic slowdown, by 9%. With various
initiatives and programmes yet to be launched in 2010, we
anticipate our revenue to surpass last year’s results by at least
25%.”
