Second Singaporean Makes Changi Millionaire Shortlist

Another Singaporean could become a millionaire after shopping at Changi Airport.

Mr Ng Eng Sin, a 43-year-old business development manager, has been picked as the lucky monthly winner of the ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ Draw for the month of September. He is the second Singaporean to become a monthly winner of the Millionaire Draw, giving him the chance of winning the grand prize of Sin$1 million.

Mr Ng, a father of two, had purchased two Lego toy sets for his sons aged seven and eight when he was at Changi Airport with his family in September. The purchases were made at KidzTime! at Terminal 3’s Departure Transit Mall when the Ng family were on their way to Penang to visit relatives and to celebrate the younger boy’s birthday.

Describing his reaction as being “surprisingly shocked and happy” when first informed about the win, Mr Ng said, “I feel that my lucky star is shining on me, being one of the six finalists. This is the first time I’ve come so close to winning Sin$1 million.”

A frequent visitor to Changi Airport, Mr Ng enjoys shopping at Changi whenever he travels. “I think it is more than just an airport. It’s one of the icons of Singapore and more like a place of attraction. To us, it’s a mall where you can find anything and everything you need,” said Mr Ng. Singaporeans contribute a significant 15% to total concession sales at Changi Airport.

As the monthly winner for September, Mr Ng wins Sin$5,000 in cash plus a three day / two night stay in a luxurious hotel. The ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ Draw, which kicked off on 1 June 2010, has a Grand Prize of Sin$1 million. The Millionaire will be selected from among six monthly winners, whose names are drawn upon the close of every month from June to November 2010. Besides the Grand Prize, there are 188 other cash prizes totalling more than Sin$200,000.

In January next year, Mr Ng will join a fellow Singaporean, an Australian, a South African and two other monthly winners in the ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ Grand Draw.

In addition to the monthly winner, 30 daily winners (one each day) have also been drawn from the qualifying entries submitted during the month of September. Each wins a cash prize of Sin$1,000. The daily winners comprise nationals of many countries including 11 from Singapore, three from China, and three from Indonesia. Other winners come from Australia, France, Greece, India, Italy, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States. Winning entries ranged from a purchase of Sin$110 on fashion accessories, to a Sin$13,000 purchase on watches, both made at Terminal 1.
