Japan Airlines and Qantas, both members
of the oneworld airline alliance, have reached an agreement to
expand their partnership. From 1 October 2010, JAL will codeshare
with Qantas on flights operated by the latter between Singapore
and Brisbane.
With the enhanced agreement with partner airline
Qantas, JAL will retain Brisbane in its international network as
it suspends its direct flights between Tokyo, Narita and Brisbane
from September 30, 2010 after 22 years of operations.
JAL and Qantas first started to cooperate and
offer codeshare flights in April 1986. At present, JAL markets
flights operated by Qantas from Singapore to Adelaide, Melbourne
and Perth.
JAL will continue to serve
customers traveling between Australia and Japan with these codeshare arrangements and two daily flights
connecting Tokyo and Singapore.
