FCm Travel Solutions has strengthened its
operations in Asia with an acquisition and the appointment of a
new leader to oversee the FCm network’s growth in the region.
The global corporate travel management
consultancy has fast tracked its growth in a key business hub by
acquiring Singapore-based Air Services International Pte Ltd, a
locally-owned corporate business established in 1973.
FCm will
merge the business with its existing organically grown operations
in Singapore, effectively doubling its presence in the market.
Together, the businesses are expected to generate about $50million
in total transaction value during 2010-11.
The deal
coincides with the appointment of Suyin Lee as general manager of
FCm Asia, a role that includes oversight of the business’s Asian
partner network, regional sales and account management.
Suyin, who will be based in Singapore, will report to Rob
Flint, the executive general manager of parent company Flight
Centre Limited’s leisure and corporate travel operations in Asia
and the Middle East.
Suyin has more
than 15 years of senior management experience and has significant
working knowledge of the Asian travel market.
She
is also a long-time employee of Flight Centre Limited and has
worked in various roles for the leading global travel company,
including general manager of FCm’s Greater China business for
three years.
In her new role, Suyin will oversee
the overall growth and development of FCm’s corporate, leisure and
events businesses in Singapore, with a view to establishing the
country as a key regional hub for Flight Centre in Asia.
Suyin also will work on strengthening FCm’s service
platforms and partner alliances and will focus on the growth of
existing business, in addition to devising and implementing
training and development strategies for the regional FCm network.
“The Singapore business will become a key regional hub
for Asia within the next 12-18 months,” Suyin said. “As part of
this, we’ll be specialising in corporate travel and event
management for mid-tier multinational companies through the FCm
Travel Solutions brand ... We will also work on
growing our leisure travel offerings through the established
Flight Centre brand, which already has an online presence in
Singapore and in other countries.”
Suyin takes over
management of the partner network from Joseph Kao, who is stepping
down from his role as director partner network, Asia. Joseph takes
leave from FCm following a successful and inspirational role in
the company, which delivered innovation to Asia’s corporate travel
industry.
