Amari, one of Thailands leading domestic hotel
management companies has formed a new corporate structure with the
creation of Onyx Hospitality Group, a new management company. This
strategic development allows the company to pursue its previously
announced expansion plans, moving beyond Thailand to pursue
hospitality management opportunities in the Asia Pacific and
Persian Gulf regions.
Onyx Hospitality
Group will comprise of two new hotel brands: a luxury
brand, Saffron and a select services offering named Ozo. These
will complement the established mid to upscale Amari brand which
underwent a significant revitalisation programme in October 2009.
Mr. Yuthachai
Charanachitta, owner of Onyx, said, We will be investing
US$44.1 million in a corporate growth strategy which will see new
properties introduced across the portfolio of brands. We want to
position Onyx as a market leader in hospitality management in the
Asia Pacific region.
Saffron
Already under construction and scheduled to open its doors in
2011, the first property in the Saffron portfolio will be named
the Oriental Residence Bangkok. Located in the popular downtown
area of Wireless Road, the development will include
privately-owned condominiums as well as 145 luxurious serviced
apartments.

properties in key tourism destinations throughout Thailand
including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi
and Koh Chang.
In September 2010, the opening of Amari
Residences Bangkok will fully showcase the groups revitalised
brand positioning. Located adjacent to the Bangkok Hospital, the
128-room Amari Residences Bangkok will target short and long term
visitors, especially those visiting the city for medical
treatments.
Amari Hua Hin, opening in 2012, will be the
groups first resort in this popular Thai seaside town located
approximately 200km south of Bangkok. Set on 7.5 acres, Amari Hua
Hin will offer 223 rooms and suites as part of a mixed use
development project that will also feature luxury condominiums.
Ozo
The group claim the Ozo brand will feature "exteriors that
wow, interiors abuzz with activity, decors awash with local colour
and well-thought out amenities and facilities".
